Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. based in Shenzhen, Guangdong is a Chinese multinational technology company. It designs, develops, and sells telecommunications equipment and consumer electronics.

The company was founded By Ren Zhengfei, a former Deputy Regimental chief in the people’s Liberation Army on September 15 of 1987. Initially focused on the manufacture of telephone switches, Huawei has expanded its business to include the development of telecommunications networks, the provision of operational and consulting services and equipment to companies within and outside China, and manufacturing communications devices for the consumer market. As of December of 2019 Huawei has over 194,000 employees.

Economic Objectives:

Huawei has distributed its products and services in more than 170 countries. In 2012, it overtook Ericsson as the world’s largest manufacturer of telecommunications systems, and in 2018 it overtook Apple as the World’s second-largest smartphone company behind Samsung Electronics. Huawei reported in December 2019 an increase of US$121.72 billion in its annual revenue. In the first quarter of 2020, Huawei was the second-largest phone maker with a market share of 17.8%, behind No. 1 Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and ahead of No. 3 Apple Inc. Huawei has exceeded Samsung and Apple in July 2020, for the first time, to become the world’s top smartphone brand. This was mainly because the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a decrease in global sales of Samsung in the second quarter of 2020.

Social objectives:

As of December 12, 2019, Huawei product has been banned in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, and the U.S.Huawei’s product are widely available in the Asian market and also in the European market although The United Kingdom has restricted Huawei from contributing core parts to 5G technology. For the countries in which Huawei's products are available, they ensure high-quality products by adhering to the “Quality First” strategy.

Huawei operates in more than 170 countries and regions. Outside China, Huawei aims to hire local professionals and work to build a diverse workforce. Its interactive model makes training both efficient and attractive. Training on this platform takes many different forms, including live streaming courses, micro-courses, and small private online courses. By the end of 2019, 139-course series and 16,322 learning resources had been made available to employees.

Huawei has a robust health and safety management system for employees. In 2019, the company established an integrated health platform by pooling internal and external resources. This platform not only responds to medical emergencies but also provides easy access to various healthcare resources and services. In addition, the platform is linked to leading, certified healthcare providers in the local countries and regions in which Huawei operates, particularly in hardship regions where medical resources are scarce.
